Hello all. It seems that there are not many atheists here in MN.

My name is Ben, but you can call me Rasta. I am 24, was raised in a fundimental Christian home. I sought to find objective evidence and thus proof of my faith, and in the process lost my faith.

I am an musician and artist (by desire, not profession) I play drums, and have a passion for artistic expression in all forms.

I am looking forward to conversing with all seven of you. (LOL)

You'll like the Freethought picnics we have over the summer with other groups. There's a group of musicians who get together and play in a park for fun.

There are more atheists then you'd think, but not so many who are looking for a group. If you stick around long enough and go to a few events, you'll find a handful of ex-pastors who became atheists. Are you out with your family about being an atheist?

Good point.

Nice. Ex-pastors have a lot of insight I've found.

Yeah. I was boardering evangelical when I first came to my revalation. I didn't hide it one bit. I thought I had discovered a profound truth (I still feel it is true, but not so profound) and that if I merely shared, everyone would agree with me. Needless to say, I am the only atheist in my entire family. I kinda labeled myself as a "black sheep" of sorts.

My family has remained nice and it really does not show on the surface anymore. Though I can tell that they are secretly concerned for me. Which is a double edged sword, in one sence they see me as a misguided mut, but on the other, they truely care about my well being and want me to be in heaven with them. So we kinda have an unspoken truce, which is fine by me.

Hey- I play the drums too. A little, anyway. I have dreadlocks, but I'm not a Rastafarian and I don't play reggae Mostly blues, 'cause that's what the guys I play with play, but I'd probably do heavier rock-type stuff if it were up to me.

I think there's quite a few atheists around, but some don't want to be called atheists, and most won't 'out' themselves. I had a lady today tell me that I was the first atheist she had ever met! Yowza!
