Thanks - let me know if I can be of any help! I'm willing to volunteer my time for planning any events and I could also try to persuade some of the older members to participate... I think it's critical that they share their extensive wisdom on atheism with us whippersnappers to help keep the movement going, and what better incentive than beer!?

I'm surprised and disappointed CASH was so unresponsive - especially to Dawkins! I'll be at the convention tomorrow, maybe we can talk more there.

I would love to find some religious allies to team up with for a collective effort to protect a fundamental principal in our democracy: The separation of church and state.

This Jeffersonian/Madisonian concept protects non-theists, and all others who don't subscribe to the god of Abraham, from the establishment of said god and thus forcing "God" onto our society and elements of our culture where it simply doesn't belong (i.e. the courts, government, schools, and other public entities). Many theists also recognize the damage of occasionally mixing church and state together as it tends to compromise the sanctity and integrity of their church and faith. They agree that their religion should not be promoted nor should it be inhibited by government.

Religious liberty and civil liberty should be something that all atheists/agnostics/humanists/freethinkers and Christians can agree on. I would really like to see a collaborative effort for this simple and just cause. Perhaps some outreach to effective leaders in the religious community?

In response to putting "In God We Trust" on U.S. currency, Theodore Roosevelt (a devout Christian) wrote, "To put such a motto on coins ... is in effect irreverence, which comes dangerously close to sacrilege"

My best advice to anyone who wants to raise a happy, mentally healthy child is: Keep him or her as far away from a church as you can.

I really like the blood drive idea. There was just some news out about how they keep blood for 6 weeks but it's really only good for 2 weeks.
