Dear Moderate Christian,
What is the point? Why have you not read your holy text in its entirety? Why am I still alive? According to your holy text I should have been stoned to death long ago.
If you are not going to abide by your holy text, you are going to Hell. What is the point?
Most moderate christians (lack of caps intentional) act morally similar to atheists. If morality is the key, why does your god prefer the morals of a believer in jesus (again, lack of caps intentional) as opposed to an equally moral person? The general answer is, "because the bible told me so." Not good enough! Make something up by yourself for once.
When the bible specifically states that only 180,000 Jews are going to heaven during the Apocalypse, why are so many millions of Americans so confident they are in the running? I can understand the moderates believing that the bible is just metaphors, but "180,000" does not sound like a metaphor to me. You, as a white American, have a better chance at surving a grenade going off in your lap than suddenly becoming one of the few Jews that make it to heaven.
In short, give it up! You are not only wasting everyone else's time, but also your own. You are giving cover to the nutcases that truly believe this garbage.
As a moderate christian, speak up for yourself! Quit letting the radical nutcases speak for you. Let the world know that the majority of christians in this nation are not crazy. The fundamentalists actually know their bible quite well. They want discrimination legislated because the bible tells them so. If you are going to continue to believe, at least have a common sense spokesperson that everyone can gravitate to.
Go ahead and worship Jesus and his teachings, but when you hear fundamentalists preaching Old Testament morals, please, be outraged (as you should be) and speak up and speak against them whenever you have the chance.
