How to increase forum activity? 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Just joined, but noticed this forum really isn't used much.

Anyone have any clever ideas to increase it's usage and traffic? Obviously, the more the current members use it the more it will get used. Plus, the busier it is the more likely someone else will find it.

I don't recall hearing it mentioned on the radio show.

Maybe more bumper stickers?

The trick is, our site doesn't get a ton of traffic. We see a lot of activity when PZ posts something about our radio show, but that's about it. I've tried to stick to news specific to Minnesota Atheists, rather then being some news feed or blog covering all sorts of atheist news, because I figure there are better sites for that. We're kind of horrible about promotion and sales, but are working on getting more grass roots, cheap ways of promotion, like word of mouth, buttons, and stickers. But, yes, there should be more activity on the site, more posts, but people are already tied up with so many other comments on so many other sites. We'll just need to get better to compete.

Let me know if you need help with the stickers. I could donate some.

Current forum members should use the forum more. Even for just regular discussion.

I do agree with keeping the news local as much as possible (except of course for major announcements, like God landed in New York and isn't happy with us).

Sadly I missed the picnic last weekend, but there's no discussion of it here. No play-by-play, no pictures!

I've been pretty bad about follow up. We cover that stuff in our newsletter really well, but it's not really on the website. I'm going to try to get the editors into adding content, so it's not just me.

Hey! I've been thinking about this as well!

Some things I thought of to help:

Members who 'care' should think of posting on a regular basis, especially to new members and guests. I plan on trying to be here and 'present' more frequently.

Second, a lot of the areas don't seem to lend themselves to much discussion... I don't know exactly how to remedy this fact. Some posters also don't have a lot to say/are difficult to respond to... Also, not a real way to remedy this!

I'd be willing to help out in other ways, too. Hope we find a way to increase traffic.
