I have been an extremly devoted Catholic for my whole life (I'm 18 almost 19 by the way) and just recently became an atheist. Just yesterday I came out to my parent. Holy cow were they mad, they were both in tears telling me how disapointed they were in me. After making all of my points for why I am an Atheist the only response they had was that believing in god was something they knew was true in their heart. Today has been very awkward, they have tried to do damage control and make sure that my sibblings hear nothing about this. So as of now I can't wait to get back to college, which happens to be MSUM up in Fargo which is flooded right now so I have until the 6th until I can go back

Wow, good luck! It's good that you were brave enough to tell your parents even though you are very young still. That's making a great step. I hope everything turns out well for you, tell us if you need any more support!

Best of luck. You're in for some tough times, but eventually your parents will accept your position. You may even force them to re-evaluate their beliefs. No harm in that.
