Marty at MN Atheists Meeting" recorded 1/21/2007 "Separation of State and Church and the 2007 Legislature" Minnesota State Senator John Marty has been a staunch advocate of separation of state and church in the Minnesota Legislature. His latest defense of the First Amendment was an eloquent, passionate opposition to a proposed anti-same-sex state marriage amendment in the Senate Judiciary Committee last year. Senator Marty will speak to us on "Separation of State and Church and the 2007 Legislature." Will bills be introduced on same-sex marriage, contraception and abortion, stem cell research, or vouchers? Senator Marty has been a member of the Senate since Jan 1987 and represents seven northeast Metro suburbs, including the area where the Roseville Library is located. After his talk, we will present him with a First Amendment Award from Minnesota Atheists.
