Parades & Outreach

Part of the reason Minnesota Atheists exists is so that nonbelievers can find community when they need it, but we try not to sit back and wait for that point. We spend a lot of time putting ourselves where we’re visible and approachable, offering hugs and validation to people hurt by religion, and pretending we’ve never heard anyone joke about atheists eating babies.

We were regulars at Heart of the Beast Puppet Theater’s May Day Parade for several years before its end. In 2019, we built our first float for Twin Cities GLBT Pride Fest & Parade, but we’ve been marching for years. We’ve set up our booth at festivals and book fairs, and gone to speak at countless schools, churches, and libraries. If someone is curious about atheism or has questions, we want to be there.
