MN Atheists Building Fund Survey
By Steve Petersen
Since 1996 the members of MN Atheists have donated generously to “The Building Fund,” an initiative established with the intent to obtain a building as a long-term physical place for us to gather, meet, host events, engage with the community, and provide office and work space. According to the original wording of the funding outreach, the funds gathered may be restricted to only purchasing real estate, not renting, leasing, or otherwise paying the costs for a physical space.
In the current real estate market, the fund is insufficient to buy a property, so the fund is — and has long been — unable to move forward on obtaining a property. Rather than leave these funds to continue to sit unused, the MNA board would like to clarify the scope of the Building Fund’s goals so that MN Atheists can explore alternative approaches to obtaining a physical location.
Before we make any formal change in direction, we would first like to hear from you, the donors to the Building Fund, regarding your priorities and your openness to exploring alternatives to obtaining a physical property for MN Atheists. Please answer the few questions that follow, it is very important that we hear from you.
Thank you so much.
MN Atheists Building Committee.
